Lois Schwarm Obituary

Lois Ann Schwarm, 92

Lois Ann Schwarm, 92, formerly of Ohlman, passed away at Litchfield Health and Rehab Center at 5:41 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Visitation will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis on Saturday, January 31, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will take place at Ohlman Cemetery.

Mrs. Schwarm was born on December 17, 1933, in Fillmore, the daughter of Lawrence and Esther (Singler) O’Malley. She married Gerald Lee Schwarm on May 8, 1954, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis. They shared 65 years of marriage until his passing on January 15, 2019.

Mrs. Schwarm was a devoted member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis, where she participated in many church and school activities over the years. After graduating from high school, she lived and worked in Springfield for the State of Illinois before returning home to marry Mr. Schwarm and raise their family.

Together, they raised five children, and Lois rarely missed any of their school events or activities. After their children were grown, Mr. and Mrs. Schwarm enjoyed playing golf, attending baseball games, and spending winters at South Padre Island, Texas. One of their favorite pastimes was watching St. Louis Cardinals versus Chicago Cubs games—she was an avid Cubs fan, while he was a devoted Cardinals fan. Above all, they treasured time spent with their children and grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her children: Cheryl (Floyd) Storm of Irving, Janet (John) Johnson of Madison, AL, Connie (Terry) Van Horne of Byron Center, MI, Ben Schwarm of Ohlman, and Toni (Dan) Browne of University City, MO; grandchildren: Tyler (Amy) Johnson of Owens Cross Roads, AL, Rana (Cameron) Brown of Marietta, GA, Taylor Browne (Keaten Landis) of St. Louis, MO, Sam (Sawyer) Schwarm of Hockessin, DE, Sadie Schwarm of Chicago, Luke Schwarm of Washington, D.C., Andrew (Jennie) Van Horne of Toronto, Ontario, Zachary (Melina) Van Horne of Toronto, Ontario, and Nathan (Lindsay) Van Horne of Toronto, Ontario; and great-grandchildren: Elliotte, Maren, Charlotte, and Vada Johnson of Owens Cross Roads, Macklin, Rory, and Nolan Brown of Marietta, and Ryker, Silas, and Mackenzie Van Horne of Toronto.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Esther O’Malley, and her siblings, Marion O’Malley, Ernest O’Malley, Mary Lou (O’Malley) Keller, and Patricia (O’Malley) Singler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic School in Nokomis.
